Application:
CSA-NMWU wire and cable is an indoor wiring for residential and light commercial environments, especially suitable for use in conditions where there is some moisture but where metal armor protection is not required, providing good safety and serviceability.CSA-NMWU cable is available in two cores (conductors in white and black) or three cores (conductors in white, black and red) with bare ground. It can be used for underground installations, including direct burial.CSA-NWMU cable is available in two cores (white and black conductors) or three cores (white, black and red conductors) with a bare ground conductor. It is manufactured with annealed (soft) copper conductors, stranded conductors in a compressed condition; phase conductors are insulated with heat-resistant thermoplastic polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and nylon jacketing, and the overall construction is black PVC jacketed.
The maximum permissible conductor temperature for CSA-NMWU wire and cable is 60°C. The recommended minimum installation temperature is -40°C for two-core cables (sizes AWG 14 through AWG 6), and -25°C for all other sizes. For three-core cables, the recommended minimum installation temperature is -10°C (using appropriate handling procedures). Material should be properly stored above 0°C for 24 hours prior to installation. The maximum voltage rating for all intended applications is 300 volts. Refer to Canadian Electrical Code 1 for more information on applications.
