Description:
VVGng-ls, aka VVGngd - round copper wire with PVC insulation of the outer and inner layers, has low gas and smoke emission during combustion with single and group laying. This power conductor is designed for the distribution or transmission of electricity in stationary facilities.
Any electrical products of the VVG brand are equipped with a minimum cable section of 1.5 square millimeters. But the cable itself can be large and have a much larger cross section. If the cable is equipped with two or more cores, then the number of its cross-sections is 50 square millimeters maximum.
The size of the neutral conductor depends directly on the main current-carrying conductors. For example, with a current-carrying conductor ranging in size from 1.5 to 2.5, the zero will have a cross section of 1.5, respectively.
The nominal voltage is 0.66 kV, at a nominal frequency of 50 Hz, for cross-sections up to 50 mm square, above 50, a 1 kV cable is mainly used (but on request, VVGngd cable designs are different).
The more popular VVGng-LS sections at a given nominal voltage are VVGng-LS 2×1.5; 2×2.5; 3×1.5; 3×2.5; 3×4; 3×6; 3×10; 3×16; 3×25; 3×35; 3×50; 4×10; 5×10, etc. The most widespread among VVG cables with conductors of unequal cross-section are cables with three main and one zero conductor, the so-called "three with a plus" - VVGngd 3×2.5 + 1×1.5; 3×4 + 1×2.5; 3×6 + 1×4; 3×10 + 1×6; 3×16 + 1×10; 3×25 + 1×16; 3×35 + 1×16; 3×50 + 1×25;
VVG two-core cables must have cores of the same cross-section. Three-, four- and five-core must have all the conductors of the same cross-section or one conductor of a smaller cross-section (grounding conductor or zero conductor).
The cross-sections of zero conductors (in the case of a smaller cross-section than the main ones) and grounding conductors, depending on the cross-section of the main conductors up to 50 mm2, are indicated in the table below:
Main cable core | 1,5 | 2,5 | 4 | 6 | 10 | 16 | 25 | 35 | 50 |
Zero cable core | 1,5 | 1,5 | 2,5 | 4 | 6 | 10 | 16 | 16 | 25 |
Grounding conductor in the cable | 1,0 | 1,5 | 2,5 | 2,5 | 4 | 6 | 10 | 16 | 16 |
Design:
The VVGngd cable can have from 1 to 5 copper conductors of various cross-sections, while the conductors can be either single-core or stranded twisted (multicore, as a rule, of large cross-section - from 4 mm). The shape of the conductor, regardless of the number of cores, is round or sectorial (close to the shape of a triangle or trapezoid). Any of these options is permissible by the state standard of Ukraine.
Each conductor is individually insulated with PVC. The outer layer (shell) is thick and rather strong, made of the same PVC. In this case, the shape of the cable in the section is round or oval - if the conductors inside are "lined up" in one line.
Standard color coding: yellow-green wire - ground, blue - neutral, other colors - phase. In some cables, the neutral wire may also have a reduced cross-section. It is permissible to apply a color marking with one thin line of the corresponding color along the entire conductor.
The color of the outer sheath is usually black (a distinctive feature of all VVG cables).
The VVGng ls cable can have a grounding conductor and even a "neutral" conductor of reduced cross-section. This is also determined by the labeling. For example - VVGng-LS 4 × 4.0 + 1. This means - a five-core cable with 4 cores with a cross section of 4 mm and one - 2.5 mm (exactly 1 step less). For comparison - 3 × 4 + 1 means 3 wires for 4 mm and one for 2.5 mm.
The abbreviation VVGngd stands for in accordance with the generally accepted rules for marking wires:
The absence of the letter "A" indicates that this is a copper cable
V - external insulation consists of polyvinyl chloride material (PVC);
V - cable core insulation is made of PVC;
G - bare cable core (that is, there is no armor);
ng - non-combustible material at the heart of the design;
d or LS (lowe smoke) - mark means low smoke emission;
Application and installation of VVGngd cable:
Power cable VVGngd is designed to supply power supply from the point of cable entry from the transformer substation into the building to end consumers. The main purpose is internal wiring in residential, administrative, civil and industrial buildings and structures, including specific ones - mines, collectors, semi-flooded objects, and the like. Basically, VVGng LS cables are used in areas with increased instructions regarding fire safety. It is worth noting that PVC itself has excellent resistance to acids, alkalis and combustion. And special additives make it even less flammable. As a result, we get a reliable cable product suitable for operation in the most difficult conditions from the point of view of fire safety. Copper power cable VVGng-LS is actively used at industrial facilities and in wooden buildings - where the danger of fire and the amount of potential damage is especially high, as well as in places of large gathering of people.
Can be laid both singly and together with others. But for this you need a terminal block so that the wires do not touch.
It can be laid underground (tunnels, ditches, trenches) or by air. For the latter option, it is necessary to install supports so that the cable does not sag under its weight and to prevent cable deformation.
Installation is possible both in an open way and in cable ducts or corrugations, as well as by embedding in a plaster wall. Based on the technical parameters of the product, it is allowed to lay on surfaces from non-combustible raw materials, such as gypsum, concrete, brick, and so on. It is permissible to broach at a height in a short section, where there is no danger of sagging and failure due to this. At the same time, VVGng is not intended for use in the open air without corrugation, since polyvinyl chloride does not withstand the effects of ultraviolet radiation (which is included in the spectrum of solar radiation).
Also, this cable is not intended for laying directly in the ground, since due to the lack of armor it can quickly become unusable. If it is necessary to lay it in a trench, it is recommended to enclose it in a metal sleeve.
Basic technical and electrical properties of this cable:
- the maximum withstand operating temperature - up to +70 degrees;
- maximum sustained (up to 4 seconds) heating temperature - up to +250 degrees;
- standard operating temperature range - from -50 to +50 degrees;
- withstanding humidity - up to 98%;
- operation in a state of emergency - up to 8 hours a day, with no more than 1000 hours for the entire service life of the cable;
- warranty service life - 5 years, maximum with proper laying - 30 years and more;
- the minimum ambient temperature allowed during cable installation - minus 15 degrees;
- minimum bending radius - up to 7.5 single-core section diameters and up to 10 - multi-core section diameters;
- the maximum permissible current varies in accordance with the cross-section and the number of cores. Minimum - 19 A for a four-core cable with a cross-section of 1.5 mm. A two-wire of the same section will withstand 24 A.
